I know exactly what you mean about Carole King. I played her "Tapestry" album constantly and memorized all those songs!

When I was sixteen, I read "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" for the first time. During that time, the Beatles released their song "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" and it was on the radio almost constantly. Somehow that song has become inextricably linked in my mind with hobbits and dwarves. I can't hear it even now without thinking of small human-like creatures who set off on wonderful and terrifying adventures!

What a great topic! Preserving your family video tapes and photos is one of the most valuable projects a family can undertake. I would like to recommend a company named Timeless DVD as part of your list above. I had them transfer my family's entire video collection: a combination of over 80 VHS, 8mm, and Mini DV tapes. They did a wonderful job. I had had a few tapes transferred by a cheaper drugstore service a few years ago, and Timeless DVD's quality blew them out of the water. I think their services might be ideal for viewers of your blog. Their website is Timeless DVD - Video to DVD Transfer.
