Reconsidering Crafts for Memoir Writing

This past weekend I was listening to the radio and was very pleasantly surprised by the subject matter of one of the programs on the ideas network on Wisconsin Public Radio. A very simple  story but listening I had very complex feelings about the subject…scrapbooking.  This program was To the Best of our Knowledge and Jim Fleming was interviewing Jessica Heifland author of Scrapbooking: An American History, Yale University Press. She discusses the research that she had done on scrapbooks that were done at the turn of the century. People create these glimpses of their lives, life histories, with the materials they had on hand. Each one truly creative and giving an insight of the person who created it.  These works of arts were created long before there were materials at stores where on could purchase the materials to help. The scrapbooks were both beautiful and were really consider precious to the family members that discovered them. 08-12-14a Show title Reconsidering Crafts. Hope you take the time to listen and hear about those who took the time to document their journey on the planet.Reinventing Crafting
